D-Mannose: A Natural way for Bladder Infections support

Do you tend avoid antibiotics because they never seem to stop your bladder infection for long? Or do just dislike subjecting your body to yet another round of treatment with antibiotics? Have you been looking for a natural and effective way to stop your bladder infection? Each year millions of women across the world are exposed to urinary tract infections (UTIs). Moreover, at 20% of all women suffer at least once from UTI in their lives.

According to studies, almost 90% of all bladder infections are caused by various strains of E. coli bacteria. E.coli is actually a ‘good’ bacteria if it is present in the gastrointestinal tract that is also its home. The actual infection occurs when E.coli leaves its home and finds its way up the urethra and invades the bladder where it multiplies and spreads thereby infecting the body.

Symptoms of UTI

  • Frequent urge to Urinate
  • Cloudy Urine
  • Strong and unpleasant urine odour
  • Painful or ‘burning’ sensation while urinating and
  • Uncomfortable pressure in the lower abdomen

Antibiotics and UTI Treatment

Many patients, who are prescribed a course of antibiotics for treatment of UTI, complain of other problems such as diarrhoea, nausea, and sometimes constipation because the antibiotics kill the E.coli bacteria in the GI tract. And since these bacteria also prevent the overgrowth of yeast, when they are killed, some women may also complain of vaginal yeast infection. But most important, overuse of antibiotics may encourage the mutation of bacteria resulting in antibiotic-resistant strains.

D-mannose – The Natural support for UTI

D-mannose is an all-natural product that can prove as effective as antibiotics and doesn’t have any side effects at all. It is inexpensive, doesn’t require a doctor’s prescription and is easy to use. This support is a simple sugar called D-mannose.

Naturally found in plants such as cranberries, blueberries, peaches, oranges, and apples, D-mannose can be purchases in powder form and taken with water or juice but not orange juice because of it's acidity. It has a pleasant taste. Safe for children as well as pregnant women, it is even safe for diabetics. D-mannose basically attracts the E.coli present in the bladder and prevents them form attaching to the bladder lining while also dislodging any E.coli that may be already attached to the lining. Simply said it works like a magnet making them cling to the molecules which are then flushed out with the normal urine flow.

Recommended dosage for an ongoing infection is 1 to 7 teaspoons of D-mannose dissolved in water or juice (not orange or cranberry juice) per day depending on patient. If the symptoms don't improve in 48hrs contact your doctor. Many people take d mannose as a maintenance dose one teaspoon in the morning and one teaspoon at night.
